If you are struggling

I tried to do Dr. Fuhrman's 6-week challenge last Nov and tanked almost immediately.  Something about the challenge sent me off in the wrong direction.  Maybe it was my Miss Behaving streak.  I suspect that this has happened to some of you on this challenge.  Here is a suggestion, I'm not sure if it's helpful but here you go.  What if you change your goal to:  get back on track.  Use the next 32 days to learn how to do this right, to try it out in all situations, experience the obstacles, figure out the solution, get better, and by the end of this you know what to do.  We can start a new 6-week challenge when this is over and you can roll into it ready to go and knowing what to do and enjoying doing it.  Anyone have a vita-mix they want to donate?  haha.

I'm sorry I haven't left as many comments as usual. I've been pretty sick, which makes sticking to the plan somewhat easier than usual. I cannot eat or I feel horrible. On the bright side, I've lost 2 lbs. Life is good, and I love life.

Great idea to practice plan in all kinds of situations. I found being part of this challenge gave me the little extra boost I needed to stick to the veggies, fruits and beans. I have yet to do well when I restrict amounts. I think it's because I am already thin and very active. Restricting the amount I eat seems to backfire for me. I even get sort of depressed. That doesn't seem right to me. Anyway today was a good day and thank you, barb for your thoughtful and motivating suggestion.

If you are thin and active maybe you shouldn't restrict amounts. I had the same problem. Sometimes I do better with 4 smaller meals a day due to my schedule and activity level. Eating that extra meal is better than getting overtired and then overeating when I get home.

Hi All,

I am vicariously following your challenge while doing my own. I was worried that if I committed to this challenge, I would tank. Sometimes, when I feel like I *have* to do things, that is counterproductive for me. This is even what happened to me on the ETL message boards. I read as I have time and post occasionally and that seems to be best for me. Although, for the moment, I am doing quite well and in the mindset that I have to change my life. Anyway, I just want to add another successful voice to this challenge, even if I am not participating for the Vitamix. Ultimately, my motivation has to be internal or I just don't do it. But, I just wanted to come out of lurkerdom and say how inspirational all of this is!

The challenge has made me more aware of how much I am eating and I have stopped overeating at meals...a huge success.

I tend to have a rebellious side when I feel like I HAVE to do something but I think it is good to look at it as a decision to improve rather than laying down the law. I've had a few treats here and there but over all it has helped tremendously in making me more aware of the choices I am making.

HI Tally, glad you have you joining us. I know what you mean about tanking when you join challenges. I'm glad you are doing well on this one!

Tandi that is a huge success. That's a great way to look at the challenge--a decision to improve. All the voice in your head should be onboard with that one. :)
